Go Mariners!
The other weekend, our great friends offered us two Mariner tickets. It was last minute, so we weren't able to get a sitter in time. We were going to attempt to pack up the whole family, but it was a 7 o'clock game, and I didn't feel like wrestling with Lincoln for two hours in the stands. So Joe and Gavin had a "daddy date." Of course, we couldn't send the Gavin without the proper attire. :)

Gavin loves going to games, mostly for the cotton candy- notice the blue lips. Haha! Needless to say, they had a great time. And I enjoyed a quiet evening watching a chick flick and making popcorn.

Music to My Ears
For my birthday, I decided to buy a keyboard. I took lessons for about 6 years in Junior High/ High School, and I really, really missed playing. I haven't played since I went to college- just when I would go home to visit my mom. There is something so therapeutic and relaxing about sitting at the keyboard, putting the headphones on and playing as loud as my ears can stand. (ok...maybe not THAT loud). I'm so excited to expose my kids to music, letting them experiment and play and find enjoyment in something so beautiful. Playing piano is a part of who I am, and I'm so glad to have it back!
And it's crazy how advanced these things are! Mine has a recorder function, so I may try and record myself and post. We'll see...

Chicken Parmesean Sandwiches
4-6 chicken tenderloins
1 egg
Breadcrumbs
Butter
Marinara sauce
Mozarella cheese
Sourdough bread
Melt butter in large saucepan over medium high heat. Dip tenderloins in egg, then dredge with breadcrumbs. I cooked the chicken for a few minutes on each side, until they were cooked throughout. Heat up the marinara sauce. Toast the sourdough bread. Layer on the bread, marinara sauce, chicken and mozarella cheese. I melted the cheese over the chicken in the broiler and voila! Not super healthy, but very delicious. If you want a healthier option, you could always through on some spinach and call it good.
There is no picture because I totally made up this recipe (with Joe's help), so make at your own risk.
Enjoy!

Skinny Click Clacks

Yes, I'm in love with my new skinny click-clacks (aka TOMS shoes). Joe bought these for my birthday, and I love them. If it was socially acceptable, I might just sleep in them. They are so comfortable, go with just about anything, and can even withstand a little rain. Hooray for TOMS!

A New Season
Gavin started kindergarten today. Tomorrow he'll be asking to drive my car, go on a date, head off to college. I am not prepared for this.
When Gavin was born, I didn't think about his first day at school because it seemed so far away. But now the day is here, staring me in the face, telling me that time waits for no one. Every second is more precious than the last because I won't ever get it back. And I'm here 5 years older, still discovering new things about myself. But the realization that time really does pass so quickly seems daunting. All I can think about is how much time I've wasted worrying, seeking, sitting, sleeping, waiting. Worrying about what will happen tomorrow, seeking out an answer I cannot find, waiting for the next season to come. Thank the Lord for second chances; for grace to make it all right. For peace during the season; for answers when you least expect them.
And so I accept today for what it is. A new season. My baby boy is growing up, but I look forward to opportunities to teach him exciting things about himself and the world around him. Yes, I will dearly miss the days of reading with him on the couch after breakfast, watching movies during a rainy day, and our walks around the neighborhood. But I look forward to watching him grow into the little man that God has created him for.

Sniff...Sniff...

Story Time...
My little book worms...

Gavin must have sat and read to Lincoln for a good 15 minutes. Lincoln kept grabbing the pages, looking around, and wiggling away from Gavin. But Gav has the patience of a saint. It was so cute!
